P.O.

Lake Forest Park Preschool is a co-op.  For those who are unfamiliar, it means that it is run by parents, guided by directors and teachers.  We are associated with a local community college, who provides part of the teacher's salaries (we pay the rest).

The teachers guide activities, plan themes and educate parents - we have classes every other week.  Parents work in the classroom once a week, helping guide kids in a play-based curriculum.  We have a strong board, warm community, and happy kids.

I was the curriculum chair for a couple of years, but let it go this year to free-up my schedule.  A bittersweet relief.  I miss the classroom set-ups and buzz of activity when the team met to create and pull the supplies for art and science.

February is the month kids deliver valentines to one another, so the dramatic play area is usually set-up as a Post Office this month.  The kids can write messages, stuff envelopes, buy and add postage and put them in the mailboxes for "delivery".

Sarah was not in the mood to share today, but Linnea was happy to oblige.

I love the apartment-style mailboxes in the background.

The school is looking to sell it's current location - an antiquated house ready for tear-down - and buy a newer, more suitable space nearby.  Since we paid our last mortgage payment in December, we're saving money for a down payment.  The auction will help :)
